Yet another album-filk, this time Wish You Were Here, with many apologies to Pink Floyd.
No album cover, stage directions, TV banter, etc. this time. Yeah, I'm slacking off, but I wanted to focus on our gaijin characters.

Foreign Songs

Shine On You Crazy Gaijin Part 1 {Shine On You Crazy Diamond (1-5)}

Remember your old friend Dom
Locked you in a trunk.
Shine on you crazy gaijin!
Your problems can be undone
Only with your shotgun.
Shine on you crazy gaijin!
You were caught in the crossfire
Of friendship and rivals,
Blown on the plot line.
Come on you puppet for the unseen forces,
Come on you gamer, you madman, you sniper, and shine!

You reached for your weapons too soon,
You looked like a loon.
Shine on you crazy gaijin!
Threatened by what you set free,
And your cerebral debris.
Shine on you crazy gaijin!
Well you wore out your welcome
With parlous decisions,
Rode on the plot lines.
Come on you gambler, you snatcher of robots,
Come on you lover, you lamer, you leveret, and shine!

Welcome to Tokyo {Welcome to the Machine}

Welcome my friend, welcome to Tokyo.
Why are you here?
It's alright I'll tell you why you're here!
You got drunk at the show, striking your blows,
Escorted outside and boarding a ride,
You played with a girl with ribbons unfurled,
You're teaching a class,
And you know you won't be surpassed.
Now welcome to Tokyo.

Welcome my friend, welcome to Tokyo.
What should you do?
It's alright I'll tell you what to do!
Go find you a real job,
Don't rile the game doll,
Stay far away from the beer shop.
You'd better forget your gaming box.
Now welcome to Tokyo.

Dom's Chores {Have a Cigar}

Yeh see that - actress, old seiyuu?
She's bidding "adieu, fanboy,"
They only say "hidoi",
We're gonna make a ton of coin
If we can sign her.

Well I've always loved your sticky days,
And I mean that most sincerely.
The plan is just fantastic,
Is that someone we can wring?
Oh by the way, which one's Ping?

And did we tell you of who to pursue, boy,
We're gonna hire the old seiyu~u.

Piro's knocked out.
We know about the burnout.
You gotta get a comic out,
You owe it to the fanboys.
They're so happy they won't even pout.

Your buddy just ran you down?
He rode a golf cart?
You'd better hit restart,
We can eliminate this monster
We cannot let him tear up our renown.

And did we tell you of who to pursue, boy,
We're gonna hire the old seiyu~u.

Wish You Would Ph34r {Wish You Were Here}

So, so you think you could give
Stories you've lived,
Dating in sims.
Can you tell a vampire
From a spooky girl
With ribbons unfurled?
Now I feel like I'll hurl.

Did they think they could change
My heroes to foolz?
Warm bento to b33r?
Warm boards to a cold leer?
Old friendship to love?
I fin'ly proved a dark intent for the girl
While you held on to your doves.

How I wish, how I wish you would ph34r.
We're just two PC's moping in the city,
B33r after b33r,
Working game shops to get us out,
Why do you pout?
You got us here.
Wish you would ph34r.

Shine On You Crazy Gaijin Part 2 {Shine On You Crazy Diamond (6-9)}

Nobody knew you would shoot
To end your dispute.
Shine on you crazy gaijin!
Left to the girls on the street
And you can taste your defeat.
Shine on you crazy gaijin!
You can bask in the shadow
Of that near-missed triumph,
Sail on the plot line.
Come on you bishie, you coward and hero,
Come on you puppet for dolls and the empire and shine!

I tried to think of a good cover, but couldn't come up with anything, so I went the bare-bones route. Now, I won't have to send this album to the studios naked. wink.gif

[l'edite] I also notice that the original album art Shoka links is on a Russian site. Either our not-a-penguin used an image search to find the cover, or he's really a Russian spy.

QUOTE (l33t n1nj4 m4st3r)
very nice work.

Thank you. I was unusually nervous about this one, because, well...

I've never heard Wish You Were Here. Seriously. However, I do have Echoes (Floyd's "best of" album), which contains "Shine" and "Wish", I have "Machine" as a single track, which left "Cigar" (though I heard that on the radio just a couple days ago, which helped quite a lot).

My motive for writing this thing is that I'd done "Shine" months ago for WhiteKnight's She Comes fanfic, but never posted it. A couple weeks ago I decided to adapt it slightly (though the SC influence is still there) and post it, but realized that the song takes up a huge part of its album, so I figured, "Hey, why not filk the whole thing?"

"Machine" and "Wish" flowed quickly and easily - though the latter started as a Yuki filk, but changed after three lines. That left "Cigar", which I knew I wanted to be about Dom, since I was on a roll with the gaijin. Luckily, as I mentioned above, I finally heard the song on the radio, got a basic concept, and hammered it out (still not entirely sure of the singability, though).

Okay, I'm done lecturing now - go ahead and wake up. wink.gif
