Another take on a frequently filked song, and the third time this title has been used. So much for originality.

Mr. Piro-san
(after Mrs. Robinson)

And here's to you, Mr. Piro-san,
Miho loves you more than Kimiko,
Whoa, whoa, whoa,
Try not to freeze, Mr. Piro-san,
Harem plots can cause you vast dismay,
Hey, hey hey,
Hey, hey hey!

We'd like to throw a little fit about our idol's trials,
We'd like you to return to her yourself,
Look around you, all you see are such pathetic guys,
Troll about the clowns until they start to groan.

And here's to you, Mr. Piro-san,
Miho loves you more than Kimiko,
Whoa, whoa, whoa,
Try not to freeze, Mr. Piro-san,
Harem plots can cause you vast dismay,
Hey, hey hey,
Hey, hey hey!

Tried it in an on-line game that Miho used to know;
Could it be a fantasy of heart-aches?
Just a little end-game, she was not supposed to care,
After all she had to slide it down the skids.

Fu, fu, fu-fu, Mr. Piro-san,
Kimi loves you more than you can know,
Whoa, whoa, whoa,
Try not to freeze, Mr. Piro-san,
Harem plots can cause you vast dismay,
Hey, hey hey,
Hey, hey hey!

Sitting in a jail-cell until early Monday morn,
Listening to Dom lay out his case,
Cry about it, sigh about it, now you've got to choose,
It's enough to give a man the blues.

Where have you gone, Yoshitoshi, dude,
We pray for little angel's wings from you,
Woo, woo, woo,
What's that you say, Mr. Piro-san?
Abe-sensei's hair has all gone gray,
Hey, hey hey,
Hey, hey hey!

(Apologies to Simon and Garfunkel)

Yours is the the most mellifluous version, you probably have the best lyrics, and yours is the only one to reference Yoshitoshi ABe (not Abe) so who cares about being 100% original when your filk is superior?

I will say, though, that 'Mrs. Robinson' has been well-treated by the previous three filkers. Especially that Ocelot guy. Man, he's so great. ^_^

Shoka linked to them already, but I'll make my obligatory remark that you can see those and much more over at the CWDB! Including the one you just read, because we're just that up-to-date over there!

Yeah, yeah, I was AWOL from the forums when you did your epic filkin' of Bookends - sorry about that. 'Twas a well executed endeavor, too.^^

As for mine, instead of a standard filk, for some reason I decided to pun the original as much as I could. If I'd thought about it before the edit window closed, I'd have changed "start to groan" in the first stanza to "reel and groan", just for the extra punishment.

Always good to see another filk from Shoka. Forget originality. If we had to be original all the time, nobody would be able to write any more, because all the good stories and poems and themes would already be written.

Oh, and puns make everything better, even if they are the basest form of humor. Just ask my friends, Sid Vicious and Victor Wooten.

When I saw the thread title, I initially thought you were going to use Billy Joel's Piano-Man

Chorus
Draw us a frame, Mr. Piro-San
Draw us a frame, tonight
If it's not cross-hatched or it's scribbly
We're sure it will still be all right.

Yeah, Ocelot was better when Rodney wrote the filks.

Actually, Ocelot is all about Serious Business now. You just don't get it, apparently.

;)

Pretty sure it's not and you're breakin' the law like Judas Priest right now, but since the forum's slow and it brings something pretty great back to the front page, I think the community can forgive your offense.

Zandra, Rodney didn't suck as a writer. His style is just different than Fred's. He helped create a comic that is very good; if not for Rodney, then it is doubtful Megatokyo ever would exist.

On the other hand, if it had remained a joke-a-week geekfest, I very much doubt it would have attracted the size of audience it did under Fred.

Both played their part, but most of the current admirers are here because of Fred's work. No dis to Rodney, but things have moved on a lot since the parting of the ways.
