...and remember, November 24th is now International Talk Like A Ninja Day. happy.gif

Talk Like A Shinobi
(to the tune of "Walk Like An Egyptian")

All the gaijin with console games
They want to come here to Megatokyo,
Don't spend enough dough (toe-kee-j0),
And scare the staff at the game show.

All the officials in Japan
Want to send those crazy d00ds back,
Ninja for hire (toe-kee-j0)
Engage them in some Mortal Kombat.

SEGA spies and SONY guys say
Hey toe-kee-j0, hey toe-kee-j0
Talk like a shinobi.

Klutzy waitress with a coffee pot
Is dangerous when she goes to pour,
Maybe she slipped (toe-kee-j0),
Or maybe not, either way you're feeling sore.

All the school kids in Engrish class,
There's a l33t place they'd rather be,
Lost in arcade dreams (toe-kee-j0),
They're talking like a shinobi.

Hear the girl on the traffic light say
Hey toe-kee-j0, hey toe-kee-j0
Talk like a shinobi.

Dropping words ain't absurd if you try
Like you and me and we and I,
Ninja-speak is l33t (toe-kee-j0),
And broken grammar gets you by.

If you want to find all the ninjas
They're hiding out in your blind spot,
They've got a knack (toe-kee-j0)
For being where you're looking not!

All the school kids have this yen,
They're secret ninja wanna-be's,
Here them speak again (toe-kee-j0),
They talk like they are shinobi.

All the origami ninjas say
Hey toe-kee-j0, hey toe-kee-j0
Talk like a shinobi.

(apologies to the Bangles)
=================================================
Walk Like An Egyptian
The Bangles

All the old paintings on the tombs
They do the sand dance don’t you know
If they move too quick (oh whey oh)
They’re falling down like a domino

All the bazaar men by the nile
They got the money on a bet
Gold crocodiles (oh whey oh)
They snap their teeth on your cigarette

Foreign types with the hookah pipes say
Ay oh whey oh, ay oh whey oh
Walk like an egyptian

The blonde waitresses take their trays
They spin around and they cross the floor
They’ve got the moves (oh whey oh)
You drop your drink then they bring you more

All the school kids so sick of books
They like the punk and the metal band
When the buzzer rings (oh whey oh)
They’re walking like an egyptian

All the kids in the marketplace say
Ay oh whey oh, ay oh whey oh
Walk like an egyptian

Slide your feet up the street bend your back
Shift your arm then you pull it back
Life is hard you know (oh whey oh)
So strike a pose on a cadillac

If you want to find all the cops
They’re hanging out in the donut shop
They sing and dance (oh whey oh)
Spin the clubs cruise down the block

All the japanese with their yen
The party boys call the kremlin
And the chinese know (oh whey oh)
They walk the line like egyptian

All the cops in the donut shop say
Ay oh whey oh, ay oh whey oh
Walk like an egyptian
Walk like an egyptian

I popped in to continue debate,
That I've had with a Hamster of late,
But I'm left in a fit,
By this eloquent wit,
And the speed of your filking update!

Kudos, Shoka. Most apropos. Sadly, it no longer 24th here. Snark sneak in bit of ninja-dialect anyway. biggrin.gif

I am beginning to regret bringing you out of hiding, Mr. Shoka. You're making me look bad. This filk is very good, but there are a couple of places where it's not quite singable. [dons asbestos gloves] For instance,
QUOTE
Or maybe not, either way you're feeling sore.

Really doesn't scan. It could be done better with fewer words. Just get rid of "Feeling" and it sings perfectly.
QUOTE
All the school kids in Engrish class,

They're talking like a shinobi.

In the original last line of this verse, "Egyptian" is separated into "E-Gyp-She-An". I'd change this line to "They're all talking like they're shinobi" for singing purposes.
Still, you have an incredible idea, and executed it very well. You also used the word "gaijin". This is good.
And a minor point of advice: to help with singability, actually /listening/ to the song while you filk it helps a great deal. Set it on loop, and let the rhythm permeate your skull.
This is one of the filks that we should get someone from the Music forums to record.

W000tness!! laugh.gif

Love it, Shoka! I would put a haiku here, but I'm still humming the song and thus cannot think of one. tongue.gif

By the way: In the German version ("Geh'n wie ein Ägypter", Die Ärzte) it is Ä-gyp-ter like in Shi-no-bi. So it works even better for one of us who know both versions. wink.gif

(Okay. Now I have to jump to hattrick.org for a minute to buy a new player. See you in a few minutes!)

Shoka thank forum gang for kind words. Also for l33t snark-verse.

M-word...yeah, you're right about those extra syllables in that line - dunno where they came from. Probably just a relict of the composition that I forgot to trim.

Lukkai, that's pretty much the way I heard it pronounced in my mind as I wrote it: shee-no-bee, drawn out a bit, the way the Bangles do with some of those words.

QUOTE (Sabyr)
Hope Shoka's singers are cute like Bangles.

Is possible. ^^

Skye would like to give Shoka N1NJ4 pin for job well done. Skye think ninja talk is most important and enjoys new holiday very much. Skye also think her ninja speak in need of great work and will require more training.

For final word, Skye would very much like to request the use of great filk for viewing on N1NJ4 site. Filk would make great addition to site. Great Shinobi honor.
